Promising The Moon of the Day: On Florida’s Space Coast today, GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich made perhaps the most grandiose promise of any candidate since JFK: A permanent American moon base by the end of his second term.
“By the end of my second term, we will have the first permanent base on the moon and it will be American,” Gingrich told a rapt audience, which responded with a standing ovation.
“We clearly have the capacity that Chinese and the Russians will never come anywhere close to us,” Gingrich said, adding that he also plans to push for the development of propulsion technology capable of getting a man to Mars.
The initiatives would be a joint public-private endeavor, he noted.
Gingrich immediately followed up his grandiose promises by saying that he believes Americans “are instinctively grandiose.” This, too, got a standing ovation.

Hockey Survey

  • 1. Favourite team: Vancouver Canucks
  • 2. Favourite player: Kevin "Boom Boom" Bieksa
  • 3. Best game I’ve ever been to: Brit and I went to the Nashville game in December where we came back from a multi goal deficit and almost tied it in the third. That was exciting. We also saw Ovechkin play with the Caps, that was cool too.
  • 4. Three teams I don’t care for: Blackhawks, Bruins, Sharks (let's be obvs)
  • 5. If my team doesn’t hoist the Cup this year, I hope it goes to: New York
  • 6. First favourite player: Jarkko Ruutu
  • 7. Why I am hockey fan: handed down through family genes
  • 8. Team Crosby or Team Ovi: Crosby. I used to be team Ovi, but he really is having a mid-career crisis. Plus who couldn't feel bad for Crosby's poor concussion issues.
  • 9. Second favourite team: I liked Ottawa growing up, now I don't really have a second favourite. Whoever beats Boston most.
  • 10. Favourite Russian player: Sergei Federov (but I love Viktor Kozlov in the old EA games)
  • 11. Favourite Swedish player: Outside Sedins/Naslund, Nicklas Lidstrom or Peter Forsberg
  • 12. Favourite American player: Outside Kesler, Mike Richter
  • 13. Favourite Canadian player: Joe Sakic or Steve Yzerman
  • 14. Staals or Sedins: Sedins due to homerism. However, I respect that there are 3 Staals in the NHL and all 3 are All-Stars.
  • 15. Player I like on a team I don’t like: I liked Milan Lucic a lot....before last season...
  • 16. Craziest thing I’ve done for my team: Spent money on tickets? (CRAZY EXPENSIVE!)
  • 17. First player I met: I shared an elevator with Kevin Bieksa in Seattle, but he was with his wife and kid so I didn't want to be rude.
  • 18. Team I’ll support in Sochi 2014: Canada.
  • 19. Arena I’d kill to watch a game in: Madison Square Garden, but I hear Jobing.com Arena in Phoenix is gorgeous (too bad it'll be teamless soon)
  • 20. Player currently on my team who deserves to have his number retired: Obviously Sedins. Aside from that...Salo, Bieksa and Kesler have all been important but I wouldn't say that any of them have changed the franchise

Rescued Baby Bear

This cute, cuddly, and probably completely safe to have in the house, Polar Bear cub was found in Chukotka, Russia after his mama bear was killed by poachers.
